Dollywood’s Splash Country is by far the most fun water park in the Smoky Mountains! If you are like me, you probably put Dollywood’s Splash Country (or any other water park) in a category for older kids, teens and adults. However, that is not true about Dollywood’s Splash Country! While the water park does offer some awesome and thrilling rides for the older crowd, there is so much for the little ones to do too! Here are 5 awesome things Dollywood’s Splash Country offers for families of small children:
1. Life Jackets
I think this is genius! Children come with a ton of stuff and not having to tote around puddle jumpers or floaties is just heavenly! Dollywood’s Splash Country offers a selection of sizes so even if your older elementary child isn’t a strong swimmer, there is an option for them too! The life jackets are located in many areas around the park including by Little Creek Falls.
2. Little Creek Falls
Little Creek Falls in the perfect place for the smallest Water Park visitors. It offers a zero entry shallow pool, 2 small water slides, places to climb and several other water features. There are several shady spots around the area, a bathroom, multiple canopies for rent and lockers close by. Berries N Cream and Camp Site Grill are both located near-by to help out when your family gets hungry!
3. Bear Mountain Fire Tower
This area is geared more towards the elementary age crew. Bear Mountain Fire Tower looks like a large climbing structure with multple slides and a huge bucket that randomly dumps water at the top! There are multiple water canons to shoot and there is zero possiblity of staying dry! The best part of Bear Mountain Fire Tower is that it is surrounded by fencing with only one way in and out! There are shady spots around Bear Mountain Fire Tower, a bathroom close-by and Dogs N Taters and a fill and chill refill station just across from the entrance!
4. The Cascades
The Cascades is the prettiest area in the park! Located in the very back of the park, it is often the most quiet as well! This is the perfect spot if you have children of all ages! The backdrop of The Cascades are rock formations with waterfalls and water slides intermingled. There is a deeper pool for the better swimmers in your family, but also a shallow splash pad area for the smaller kids. There is tons of seating in this area along with canopies and retreats for rent. Cascades Concessions is also located in this area.
5. Mountain Waves and Downbound Float Trip
Mountain Waves is the wave pool at Dollywood’s Splash Country. I don’t recommend children go in the wave pool unattended, but a child on a tube with a supervising adult would have a great time riding the waves!. The Downbound Float Trip is also a fun lazy river ride. Children can ride on a tube and parents can hold on!
Dollywood’s Splash Country is a must do park when traveling to the Smoky Mountains in the summer time! Offering 16 water attractions on 35 acres (including the 3 interactive children’s areas) there is something to do for everyone in the family! I hope you put this on your Smoky Mountain bucket list! You will have a blast!
