Walt Disney World does holiday parties like no one else! When it comes to Halloween, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is an awesome way to celebrate! It’s a great place to hear spooky music, see lots of great costumes, see your favorite characters, watch some great fireworks and get a TON of candy! Here are five tips for making the most of your time at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:
1. Arrive Early
Although Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party does not start until 7:00, you can arrive as early as 4:00 to get more time in the park. Upon arriving the cast members will put a special party band on your wrist and guide you to your first candy stop. Here you will get your candy bag and your first pack of candy. Between 4 and 7 is a great time to snag some FastPasses or a dinner reservation. The park closes at 6 and Cast Members begin sending those without party bands towards the gates. The characters in costumes arrive at 7 and that is also when the special Halloween food is served and trick or treating begins.
2. Make A Plan
Just after entering the gates, you will receive a brochure that has everything you need to know about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party including times for the shows, parades and fireworks, where to find your favorite characters, what rides are open, where to shop, and where to trick or treat. The sad reality is that you can’t do it all. Make sure you know your families top priorities and try to accommodate them.
3. Do Watch The Entertainment
You have come specifically for the party, so don’t miss the special performances to get you in the mood! Happy Hallowishes (the fireworks) are offered just once in the evening and in my opinion is not to be missed! The best spot is just in front of the castle to get the best viewing of the graphics on the castle and all of the fireworks. It get’s super crowded! We also attended Mickey’s “Boo- To- You” parade. This is a great time for kids to see the characters. Mickey and friends, along with many princess, head up the parade, followed by the villains and some friends from the haunted mansion. Be prepared, the same song is played over and over throughout the whole parade. You will sing it on repeat for weeks to come. I promise! If you have children that are easily frightened, plan to leave the parade after the princesses pass. The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is held 4 times during the evening in front of the castle. The last showing is just as the party is ending and would be the perfect way to cap off the night!
4. Costumes are Fun, But…………….
Be aware of the Florida heat! We attended Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in late October and the high was 95 degrees. It didn’t really cool off after the sun went down either. It was fun to see other people wearing them as well as the characters in costumes. So many families had a theme and every person in their group was dressed up! It was great! However, for your family to have the best time, plan your costumes for comfort and coolness.
5. Trick-or-Treat Last
The candy will not run out! Your children (or you!) will get so much candy if they even do half of the trick-or- treating stations. Every station gives multiple handfuls of candy and you can go through as much as you want! That’s a lot of candy to be toting around all evening long. A couple of notes about trick- or -treating. 1. Bring your own bag. The bags they give you are tiny! 2. Allergy friendly candy is offered at two different locations in the park. Just ask a Cast Member!
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a great way to spend some time in the Magic Kingdom! It’s fun for all ages and is the perfect place for families to celebrate Halloween together! I would love to hear your favorite Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party memory!
