LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta is a ton of fun if you have a LEGO lover in your family like we do! TJ is all LEGO’s every day, so LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta was a highlight of our recent trip to Atlanta! Here are some ways to make the most of your trip to LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta.
1. Buy Tickets Ahead of Time
Buying tickets ahead of time not only saved us time but also saved us money. When we traveled, the special was buy an adult ticket and get a child’s ticket free. Even if they are not running a deal like that, the tickets are always cheaper when purchased on-line. It also saved us from having to wait in line to buy tickets! The kids in our group were anxious to start having fun, so standing in line would have been difficult!
2. Arrive Early to LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta
Arrive to LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta as soon as it opens! It gets crowded FAST! We were able to get through both rides and the movie before it started getting crowded. Once the crowd picked up, the lines for the rides and movie got very long.
3. Buy An Activity Pack
Purchase an activity pack when you purchase tickets. An activity pack is actually a LEGO activity book on a lanyard. Inside LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta look for stamps to complete the book. Once you have collected the stamps you can get a free drink and prize. My son didn’t really care about collecting the stamps while in the LEGO Discovery Center, but he has loved completing the activities in the book since getting home. There are many LEGO building ideas that have kept him busy. It is a fun souvenir to remember the day!
4. Do the Activities First and Then Play
There are two fun rides and a movie inside LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta. All three of them have lines that can get long very quickly! Do these three activities as soon as you can after arrival and then spend the rest of the time going through the different areas. The rides are Kingdom Quest and Merlin’s Apprentice. The LEGO 4D cinema shows up to 4 different movies a day that last approximately 10 minutes.
5. Don’t Miss Miniland
Our whole family, 3 years old to grandparents, LOVED Miniland. It is a display of Atlanta buildings and sites built with LEGO’s. The room goes from dark to light so you can see the lights of SunTrust Park at night and really inspect all of the details of the buildings in the light. It was extremely amazing and well done.
6. Save Time to Play and Build
Don’t forget to save time to let your kids play on Pirate Adventure Island, the indoor play structure, and build in the various areas. My little guy really enjoyed building and racing cars down the different ramps. There is also a great area for kids under 5 years old to build and enjoy the DUPLO LEGO’s.
LEGO Discovery Center Atlanta was a highlight for a LEGO loving kid! It takes about 2 hours to go through or more if you child wants to spend more time building and playing! I highly recommend making a stop there the next time you are in Atlanta!
