To Make Summer Adventures So Much Easier!
It’s great to have a plan, a schedule, or even a Pinterest board full of fun things to make the summer great! But sometimes the biggest challenge is just getting you, your kids, and All.THE.STUFF, out the door! Summer organization is key, so today I have 5 tips for making getting out the door, either for outside fun or field trip fun, super easy!!
1. Gather Everything For Summer Fun Now
Right now stop and think through everything you might need to have a successful outing. This could be towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, water shoes, a bag, floaties, chair, blanket, etc. Now gather it all! Yep! Just make one big pile!
2. Organize and Store the Summer Fun Stuff
All of the stuff you have piled needs to be stored close to the door you leave from, or in the car. Make a pile of what can stay in the car and what needs to stay in the house.
Find a good place to store the inside things by the door. Contain it in pretty baskets or bags, in containers, or on hooks by the door. Just make sure everything you might need for summer fun is ready to grab!
3. Have Bags Ready to Load
I touched on this in tip 2, but have any bags (pool bags, backpack, cooler) right by the door and ready to go! I keep mine on hooks by the door. Having them by the door, and with your container of things you need, makes it very easy to load up quickly and get out the door.
4. Store Summer Fun Things in the Car
Go ahead and load up the car. For the summer I keep a camp chair, a first aid kit, and a change of clothes for TJ in the car. I keep it organized and out of the way with netting that ties to the headrests.
5. Items I Find Very Helpful
First, having some bags that work well in different situations is crucial! I love a utility tote for the pool! It is large enough to hold everything from floats, to towels, and more! This one even has side pockets for your smaller items! On the go bags must be hands free and can hold what you need without getting in the way. I have carried one from Mountainsmith for years. It can be worn cross body or the strap can be removed and it becomes a lumbar pack. It has a space for 2 water bottles and several pockets for whatever you might need!
I also really like a backpack. It keeps you hand free and can hold two water bottles. It is perfect for hiking, biking, amusement parks or any fun you might get in to!
We use insect repellent and mineral sunscreen from Young Living and that goes with us everywhere. I also store some items by the door such as bubbles, sidewalk chalk and a scavenger hunt bag from Target’s Dollar Spot. It makes it easy to grab and head out for fun!
The first item for a successful summer is a plan, so don’t forget to download the Summer Adventure Challenge! Then gather and organize the items you will need to make getting out the door super easy!
